I am a Partner at the global design company, IDEO. I am a practicing designer, company leader and trusted advisor.

So what makes me a coach?

Creativity and Innovation- I was trained as an industrial designer and I know what it means to wrestle with creativity, as I have spent the last 25 years practicing design at IDEO. I have been an individual contributor delivering my craft on projects. I have led many projects, dealing with the uncertainty that comes from the unknown places that innovation can take us. I have built new offerings for my clients and for IDEO that face the market. I have opened up new geographies and have become a trusted advisor and confidant to many executives trying to evolve and change their businesses. In short, I am still using my design training everyday.

Operational knowledge- I have built and run many of IDEO’s businesses. It’s here that I have learnt what it takes to run a business, the trade offs required to make the whole system work. Not only have I learnt this first hand while running IDEO, but I am lucky enough to have been up close and personal in many intimate situations with my clients and friends as they have struggled with the same issues. I know first hand what it takes to make these trade offs and still feel good about the business you are running and the culture you are building.

Psychodynamic Coaching - In the last 5 years at IDEO I have been leaning into coaching my clients. I have dug into the world of System Psychodynamic coaching and how it can support people in their quest to fully realize their potential. I have been curious about how it differed from mentoring and general career guidance. In pursuit of this I enrolled in the INSEAD coaching certificate to understand more about this approach. Alongside this I have also graduated from the Pathwise Coaching program and I am currently co-teaching cohorts using this methodology.

Supporting people at the intersection of Creativity + Operations + Coaching is what gets me most excited. My work is to understand your path forward, what is getting in your way and create actionable strategies to support you to move beyond where you are.
